December 1st, the season opener for Bulldog Basketball, was a clash against the team from up North.
The Bulldogs traveled North to Winfield and put on a show. They put together a wire to wire win as they led the entire game—winning 61 to 45. It was an all-around effort against the Vikings as the whole team played well.
Going into their first home game of the season against Hutchinson, the effort level was going to have to be at a higher level. After getting off to a low start going down 7 to 0, the Bulldogs closed the quarter on a 10 to 6 run.
Continuing through the second quarter, they broke out to a 23 to 19 lead at half. After dominating the second half, the Bulldogs won 52 to 40, led by Cevin Clark who scored 27 points on 7/13 shooting.
The third game of the season on the road against Maize South, the number three ranked team in 4A, was the Bulldogs toughest test yet. After a well fought game, the Bulldogs fell 65 to 56.
Cooper Pierce and Cevin Clark Combined for 40 of the Bulldogs 56 points.
After falling to 2-1 on the season and 0-1 in the division the Bulldogs have two more division games this week against Goddard and Andover Central.
